US can offer loans to them at lower interest rates if they are so worried about Chinese influence. But no, US only loans money for war, infrastructure is least of their priority.

In Colombia China is building Bogotá’s metro and a suburban train connecting Bogotá to the suburbs. Honestly they’ve been doing more for Colombia than any European country.

China isn't taking over South America and Africa, China is building these two continents, helping them learn basic engineering skills and moving their technology and factories to modernize their industrial base.

So before China came along, what was the US doing in Latin America? Exploiting, maybe? Now China is building state of the art infrastructure at very competitive prices without interfering in domestic politics, US face goes red. US comes back with BBB and insists the recipient country cannot use anything China. You can see the logic right? For little investment but asking huge demands believing they are superior. It's time for the US to get down from the high horse and see others more as equals and not subjects.

Speaking of debt traps, the irony is that the country that owes China the most debt is the United States, China holds trillions of dollars in national debt, and the United States government has sent senior officials to talk with Chinese officials many times, hoping and using some coercive means to get China to buy more. lots of U.S. debt. But the US seems to be ignoring itself by accusing other countries of falling into China's debt trap. The United States seems to have forgotten that it is the largest debtor to China

But when the chinese make business in Africa, Asia or LATAM, suddenly it is a 'debt trap'.
I think the bottom line here is that LATAM countries have their on interest as well and they will play accordingly, whether it is with China or some other country.
