Innovators, Changemakers & Arc Benders: The Social Determinants of Health
Показать описание
Monthly from January to May, we’ll present a panel of noted experts from UC Berkeley and elsewhere, moderated by Dean Michael C. Lu. The series will look at the past, present, and future of advancing community-based participatory research, universal healthcare in California, the social determinants of health, health from the life course perspective, and healthy cities, including UC Berkeley’s role as trailblazers and changemakers.
On March 31, we present a discussion on The Social Determinants of Health: Past, Present and Future. The social determinants of health, or the non-medical factors that affect health outcomes, drive the health disparities that disproportionately affect communities of color and those of lower socioeconomic status. This panel is moderated by Dean Michael C. Lu and features top experts in the field, including Dr. Paula Braveman (Professor, Family Community Medicine, UCSF), Dr. Anthony Iton, MPH ‘97 (Senior Vice President for Healthy Communities, The California Endowment), Dr. Ichiro Kawachi (Professor, Social Epidemiology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health), and Dr. Mahasin Mujahid (Associate Professor of Epidemiology, Berkeley Public Health).
