My mom loves to tell me the story about when I was super young and how I'd b in the backseat of the car and anytime this song would come on the radio, she'd jam it and I'd be in the back singing along every word to it. Lol... some of my best childhood memories I have was riding around in the car or being at home with my parents when they'd b playing their albums and listening to some of the best 80's music while we'd all be singing and dancing and having a blast so anytime i hear any 80's music it takes me back so i love rocking out to all the great music from then. It puts me in such a good mood when I'm having a bad day! So lucky to have grown up in that time era! 1985 baby! 😊💜🎶💽👩🏽‍🎤

At the time "Girlfriend" was at #53 on Billboard's Hot Top 100 and working it's way DOWN the chart; five weeks earlier it had peaked at #5 {for 1 week} and it stayed on the Top 100 for 20 weeks...
And on the same 'Bandstand' show she also performed "Mercedes Boys, it was at #34 on Hot Top 100 and working it's way UP the chart; six weeks later it would peak at #2* {for 2 weeks} and it spent 18 weeks on the Top 100...
And both songs peaked at #1 on Billboard's Hot R&B Singles chart; "Girlfriend" for 2 weeks on April 14th, 1988 and "Mercedes Boy" for 1 week on May 15th, 1988...
