Yes 'toilets' because I neither use them to rest or bathe in.

In European villages and small towns people will also say "hi" to each other. To strangers as well - it doesn't matter if you really know each other or if you meet for the first time. It's a difference of how people treat each other between large cities and smaller places and not a cultural difference.

What's strange to me about US Americans (and I'm only saying this based on movies and TV shows because I've never been to the US) is that they often say that this person "has no personality." I didn't understand it at first, because everyone with a working brain has a personality, but now I'm guessing that if you're not loud, visible and opinionated, that's what they'll call you (?) 😅

In Sweden we say hi to people when we're hiking, sailing, or are in a small village/town, never in a city

"Lingua" (lin-gwa)is not a name, it is a word referring to the tongue and is often used in reference to language.

Bathrooms for customers usually don't exist in your average gorcery store. But larger supermarkets and "malls" will have them.

In Australia it's more common to smile at strangers than say 'hi'.

Well, I don’t know where this young lady came from originally but I would pick her up on a couple of things. This is from the viewpoint of an English guy living in Surrey/South West London. Whether to say Hi and smile to another person depends on the circumstances. If I was in a park or wide road/highway and they were a distance away, I wouldn’t bother, if I was in a crowded grocery store/shopping mall I wouldn’t say it all to any person I came across as the police would be called in to investigate this weird man. But as frequently happens if I pass someone and there are few others around I do to acknowledge an existence of another human being by saying hi.
As for free washrooms in my area, most supermarkets, shopping centres, railway stations, petrol/gas stations have free toilets. And there is always McDonald’s free toilets and I understand they even serve hamburgers, but I understand you do need to pay for them.

In the UK most supermarkets and shopping centres (malls in US speak) have public toilets.

The coffee thing does seem weird as we keep hearing that Americans work long hours and some even do multiple jobs in order to pay the bills. Do they get up super early so they can meet friends for coffee before work? I live in Croatia where there is also a coffee culture but in a lot of cases people are meeting for business meetings so they are actually working rather than having a break from work.

Children in the USA !!! It is not surprising that there are more dogs than children. Dogs are far cheaper than having a child in the USA.
I don't think you need to say any more than that.

"I get compliments from people I don't know" "You look amazing!
THERE it is. It's narcissism. Attention seeking and everyone should be complimenting you.
That isn't normal.

The only place I say hi to people is my next door neighbors, people I know and cashiers when I'm in a store. 99% of the time you don't say hi to strangers in Sweden unless you're in some very narrowly defined circumstance or verrry drunk. If someone says hi to you then obviously you say hi back, of course, with a degree of confusion. The weirdest thing people from the US do is not take off their shoes indoor.

But honestly, if it's apparent you are American and do some small talk, a lot of Swedish people would actually enjoy it, even if it feels kind of strange. Some of us like small talk, but we don't want to intrude on other peoples personal space or time. I have many friends from the US that I hold very dear and there's a lot to like about USA, specifically the people, some things are just odd.

I'm in Québec, Canada and greeting strangers and the occasional compliment is natural to me too, and to my parents and neighborhoods that conformed me to it.

I'm sure that the small towns and cities once had bakeries, butchers and greengroceries, etc. They're all gone. Killed off by supermarkets with foods of inferior quality, sourced from faraway places and even countries. Buying in supermarkets doesn't support local communities and Sam Walton doesn't need my dollar. When I go to my local bakery I will say "goodmorning" when stepping into the store, because everybody knows each other. Some will "goodmorning" back, others won't. No problem. Receiving an unsolicited compliment would make me suspicious. Grab coffee with friends? When? All my friends have a job.

What I find strange is that practically every house, business, etc. has an American flag in front of it! I’m patriotic too and so are most of the people I know, but few of us put up our flag in front of our homes. I’m Canadian by the way. Although I did once throw a Canada Day party (July 1st) and I not only flew our National flag, but also the flags of all 10 provinces and 3 territories. But that was for one (special) day only. I have one friend who has a Canadian flag outside her house.

In the Netherlands we try to build mixed neighborhoods. Purchase and rental properties together. With several local shops. That are within walking or cycling distance. And I think the power of the internet. The planning of the USA can also change! IF YOU REALLY WANT THAT CHANGE? NEVER let your voice go to waste!

Not sure I'd ever wanna go to the US, mostly because everyone gets to have a gun, and guns scare me lol, also I don't like random people talking to me. My dad and stepmother goes to NY for 10 days once every year and I could never. I am always scared for my dad haha, he is so kind and cool and awesome, people loved him in LA, but I guess maybe everyone loves everyone in LA? Anyway now it's all NY, they even called their new puppy NY hehe
