When I was 14 I was listening to Radio Luxemburg under the bed covers - I was meant to be going to sleep, and was in fact getting tired. I reached to turn the radio off, but before I got to the switch, I heard the DJ say "And now this is the new single from and this song came on... I'd never heard of her before, but I was entranced from the moment she started singing. I went out the next day and spent my pocket-money on the record (and indeed every record she brought out after!) There was even a photo of her too in the next day's paper, which promptly got cut out and put on my wall - I was in love :) What a voice. What a singer. What a song-writer. Phenomenal.

I remember "Brand New Key" on the am radio when I was a kid. That song is one that represents the early 1970s for me. What a talent!
