Just a little correction to the video: Geoffrey of Monmouth makes no mention of Lancelot, at least not under that name. He first appears in the slightly later, but still 12th century, works of Chretien de Troyes.

Though personally, I believe that he *was* mentioned by Geoffrey of Monmouth inasmuch as I believe that the historical basis for Lancelot was a powerful sixth century king called Maelgwn Gwynedd, and this king is mentioned by Geoffrey. I mean, this is how he describes him:

"Malgo, one of the handsomest of men in Britain, a great scourge of tyrants, and a man of great strength, extraordinary munificence, and matchless valour."

My favourite monarch in history is Queen Alexandrina Victoria of Great Britain from 1837 to 1901. Under her rule, Britain became a force to be reckoned with. She expanded the empire to heights to ruling 1/3 of the entire world in her lifetime.

My favorite monarch is Queen Elizabeth I. She was such a strong, intelligent, and cunning ruler. I definitely think the legend of King Arthur is based on fact, I think though that Arthur comes from more than one real life king. I also think there was probably one king more than any others though.
