I’m a liberal, but I’m old enough to believe that an honest, thoughtful argument made by a conservative deserves to be tested with respect and intellectual openness. That however, is not the case for someone like Mike Lee who knows the truth and will bend it in order to justify what he knows is wrong.

I listened to this with an open mind, hoping I would learn something. Instead, Mike Lee said everything I expected he would. The hypocrisy is glaring. Maybe a lot was left out in the editing, but I expected to learn a little more about why nine SC justices is sacrosanct. I am not saying I think the court should be expanded, but I want to understand why we have stopped at 9 justices, even though the size of the US poulation and the court system has grown vastly since the 19th century. I needed something a little more nuanced than his statement that "it has worked so far." Is that really all his lengthy book comes down to? Thank you for this interview, Ms. Hoover, but I think you let him off way too easy. Then again, if the questions were harder, politicians like him would not appear on your show.

Constitution. Constitution. Constitution. Until it doesn't serve your desires. Nothing too glaring for twenty minutes, other than having no real argument for the number nine, but then gets asked a real question about how it is OK for one side, but not for the other. Then the political fumbling and stumbling begin, and a total lack of integrity takes center stage. This guy reeks of, "I'd do anything to win. I have no problem playing dirty."

I think Hoover did a better job than some other commenters here. At least she got him on the record. I think his poor reasoning on some key issues shows. It is not because he lacks intelligence. He is very intelligent. It is because he has no argument from a broad perspective, for those outside of the 2022 Republican world view.

Combine that with the 14hrs/day he spent looking for election concerns this Originalist needs needs to spend more time in his home State. Didn't he say he would only serve two terms?

I'm nauseous. The wave memory of 11 years of Mike Lee positions, votes, agenda activity. Tea party - ' Don't listen at all to them. ' was the moto. Tight and quiet w Scalise.
For him to offer now this Fair and scholarly approach, this voice out of high partisanship. He's very proud of this work, And no doubt he writes better than Gingrich. It's his pride of it that I see and hear it coming through the senator. Mike Lee is a senator in office and trying to slip it by that he's giving opinion of the supreme Court - NOT HIS BRANCH.
