I’ve seen DMB 17 times and this never gets old. It has brought me to tears, and made me smile for years. The way they play together is next level. As a musician, they are the best band to watch to live.

I love the way Dave moves when hes playing. You can just tell hes keeping time and rhythm, but hes also locked the hell in and vibing with the song.

So this got blocked until Sunday morning, so the show already happened as of posting. REGARDLESS - It was so great to see so many of you and MAN - anytime you can see Carter Beauford play drums is a DAMN GOOD DAY! Cheers my friends :)

This song doesn’t show it but Dave is an incredibly underrated guitarist. He plays some very complex and uncomfortable shapes that amaze me every time. Very unique approach

Carter - DRIVING.THE.F'ING.BUS! That groove is as deep as the Mariana Trench. Good Lord.

I know jam bands aren’t everyone’s thing, but if you get the chance, Dave is such an awesome experience. The level of talent from everyone is just a treat!

Happened upon this video today and glad I did. Sometimes after hearing a song numerous times you tend to take it for granted. Ants Marching is still one of DMB’s best and I miss Leroi’s saxophone. Thanks Michael, all the best.

Last 30 seconds of Ants Marching is some of my favorite drumming ever. Carter rocks!

Michael,

Syncopation is an understatement.

The first time I heard DMB was when they opened for The Smithereens at Trax in the summer of 1991. I’d never heard of Dave Matthews before that evening.

As I was walking up to Trax I could hear them playing inside. And I was floored about how great they sounded even from outside. After I got inside, I stood there mesmerized by their sound and groove. I’d never heard or seen anything like it. I’d like to imagine that The Beatles in Hamburg might’ve had a pretty good groove.

After they finished their set and The Smithereens came on, I stayed for just a few songs and left. I had seen and heard all I needed to see that evening.

One of my fondest memories, driving down the road and hearing for the first time "Ants Marching" on the radio. When I got to my destination I immediately called my local radio station to find out "Who Was That!" and find it was Dave Matthews.

MJ your insight on this one is stellar. About how his vocals aren't locked into the rhythm. Brilliant analysis man. I have heard this prob a 100 times, and never understood why I liked it so much. That's why. TY brother

I'm a drummer and I love watching your reactions/reviews and how you break things down. Please react to them doing Tripping Billies live in Europe 2009, that is my happy song when I'm feeling down and Carter goes ham on it, he's the best.

under the table and dreaming was the first album I ever bought when I was 13 in africa. That was in 1994, same time all my friends were into nirvana and smashing pumpkins.

DMB blew my mind with their drums, rhythm and musicality. It was edgy and hip - had sax, fiddle and acoustic guitar.
Been a lifelong fan ever since.

Love DMB. I think they don’t get enough credit on the jam band scene for where it is today. The songs are so good.
