Gravitas: Did explosions damage gas pipelines to Europe?

Swedish seismologists have detected underwater explosions near the Nord Stream pipelines. This comes after European leaders claimed the leaks on the pipelines may have been caused by sabotage. Molly Gambhir tells you more.

I don’t see how Russia will benefit from destroying the pipeline that helps their economy. Russia would be more reliant on Ukraine to move its fuel using the old pipelines.

The pipeline was definitely deliberately damaged. One is an accident. Two pipelines leaking is definitely sabotage.

Why would Russia destroy the pipeline when they can easily cut and allow the flow as freely as they want

Good reporting: but why would Russia sabotage its own pipeline when it is obvious, they can just close the tap as they've already done? No, if it is sabotage, I would not prima facie suspect Russia. Self-sabotage would seem a low probability in this case because you can't negotiate with a broken product.
