🐍 Medusa is the most misunderstood Greek character. I used to think that Goddess Athena turned Medusa from a beautiful maiden into a monster out of jealousy or as a form of punishment. I was wrong! The channel *Mythology* *and* *Fiction* *Explained* said that Athena turned Medusa into a monster to protect herself against men. When Medusa was a young beautiful maiden, she was R8🍇 inside Athena's temple. To protect Medusa from ever having that happened to her again, Medusa was given the power to turn men into stone. Medusa took it upon herself to live in a mountain alone. Athena never instructed her to do that- it was Medusa's choice to be alone.

In a sense, it was Medusa's own shame that kept her hidden away from allowing people to look at her.

Imagine the prettiest girl around having a car accident that permanently disfigures her face. She _believes_ she is ugly so she hides away. That's what happened with Medusa- her looks is what she was most proud of and when she lost her beauty, she perceived herself to be a terrible creature. Medusa could have simply covered her face with a veil but no- she decided to lock herself away forever... until Jason (Jason and the Argonauts) came to chop her head off. Jason needed Medusa's head and other things in order to exchange them for his mother's life.

Edit 2.0 : This is also why you see Medusa above the entryway of Mediterranean homes, particularly where women live (kinda like how you see horseshoes above the entrance of homes/businesses in the United States, particularly in Southern states). It's to channel Medusa's protection for all girls/women living in that home. The protection mainly is meant to protect women _from_ men.

I love rolled candles. Gonna make some myself. Pack some herbs and oils in there. Hmm. I think ill set up an astral plane altar now. I thought about those candles and the thought of an astral plane altar when youre not physically close to your physical one.
