I remember when I was like fourteen and watching this musical for the first or fouth time, I was really confused why they wanted Maureen at all. Like, just from this song, she seems like someone that gives you more heartache than what's worth. They literally compared the feeling of being with her to 'feeling like drinking gasoline'. At the time I thought, I guess they love her, nothing to do. But now I just wish they became friends and dumped her.

During "The Tango Maureen", the eyebrow lift and jacket toss were added because the actors were having fun during rehearsals and the director Chris Columbus liked it.

After "The Tango Maureen", when Joanne is talking to Maureen on the phone, the TV screen behind Tracie Thoms showed reflections of the crew. All those shots had to be sent to ILM to remove the reflections.
