I know I’m a bit late, but this music and picture reminded me of a time that me and my friend sat on the rooftop of our military housing (in Okinawa, Japan) and watched the last sunset of the year fade out of the brilliant reds, oranges and purple that it stained the sky with, watching the light fade out of that giant tree in the front yard, watching while knowing that she was moving soon, that we wouldn’t see each other for years, knowing that everything was about to change when we were too young for that, we had to grow so fast... But we sat there, and enjoyed that last sunset, because we knew that even with the craziness of the world, even if we could not see each other for a long time, maybe years, we knew that we had each other, through everything. It has now been almost 4 years since we have seen each other and we still are as close as ever, we only talk maybe three for four time a month but those talks last for hours, we live in different states and are about to be in different countries again, but we still make an effort to go onto our roofs wherever we are, and just take a while to watch the sunset. Everyone, no matter where you are, especially now, take some time to just watch the sunset, it doesn’t have to be long, just a few minutes of absolute peace.

This song was a huge part of my life playlist when I was in college. Now here I am, five years later, married, living a foreign country, and just trying to figure shit out.

Earlier this year, I went blind. I also broke my leg. I descended into depression and financial ruin, and thanks to talented doctors and time, my sight was restored and my leg had a chance to heal. I asked the universe and whoever was out there watching me for the ability to see and walk again, to go back out into the world and just experience it again.

I got my wish, this summer, but not the way I expected. I spent this summer working a new job to save me from bankruptcy one that took me all over my home, town to town, meeting people and travelling to their houses to deliver things. I spent it getting lost on streets I didn't know existed, chased by bugs, barked at by dogs, wondering generally where I was, and sweltering in the incredible heat in that tin can of a truck. I questioned my sanity, I questioned my life choices, and I spent all my time staring out the windows at the world around me as I travelled to places I'd never noticed or even knew existed.

But I got to see it. I got to see it period.

This summer was a special one....Lots of times with my friends. It started off like no other summer ever had. We would all spend hours in the yard playing street Hockey or Shooting off fireworks or going to the park in the Dark, going to get ice cream and Spending time at each other's houses until 2 or 3am. One of the best nights was when my Friend and I waited for it to turn midnight ( Her birthday ) And we walked to streets going from store to store for snacks and all other sorts of stuff. It was so dead outside it was like we were living in our own Little World. It was honestly one of the best nights of my life, Everything seemed so perfect. But things have changed and for whatever reason there was a little friction with our Friend group and now we're all kind of split apart. It saddens me that this is now the Case. But I don't regret a second of this past summer
