Many of us here in Canada agree, NAFTA needs to be renegotiated. Unemployment has increased significantly after NAFTA was signed, wages in the manufacturing sector have barely increased, car manufacturing plants have been shutting down year after year. We don't need a free trade policy, we need a fair trade policy.

Canada lost 50, 000 jobs under NAFTA. Canadian workers have been screwed too.

Remember what Ross Perot warned two decades ago "the giant sucking sound" of jobs that would be lost. He was right.

Let's remember. Fiscal conservatives effectively cut taxes on the rich by almost half since 2000, and now Trump is proposing a budget that adds a trillion dollars to the deficit yearly, while also raising the already grotesquely bloated military budget. Meanwhile I'm "delusional" and "Utopian" for wanting to raise taxes on 1% of the country, close down hundreds of military bases that have been proven useless and little more than parasitic than using that money to subsidize healthcare, education, and bring jobs back by way of tariffs so people make more money.

Anyone with a sixth grade education, please tell me which set of ideas are more unrealistic for a sustainable economy?

I remember NAFTA because my father was a High earning union worker, a Machinist for General Electric when it was signed.

General electric immediately moved its manufacturing to Mexico. I think they may have even moved it over seas and had assembly done in mexico but that part im not very sure of. But they started with Mexico thats for sure.

I was a child and remember my father coming home every day worried hed be next on that list, the next to get that pink slip.

That shit rabbished our house hold. It wasnt easy finding the same quality job for my father as other companies were doing the same. My mother had to find a job herself. My families quality of life diminished.

My parents grew apart. I saw the economy get worse, then we had that financial crisis in 08.

The economy wasn't any better under obama, infact i remember high unemployment, high gas prices and mass deportation.

And lets not forget how that shit affected the corn industry in mexico, ramping up illegal immigration.

More competition, and then a smack in the face when immigrant families were displaced due to deportation. Obama didnt just deport criminals he deported abuelitas, father, mothers.

Everyone got kicked around after NAFTA.

Thanks a lot. Lol
We went feom 29 cent cheese burgers in the 90s at mc donalds to paying 7 dollars at the pump in 2012.

Thats how I experienced the snow ball effects of NAFTA.

Hey. Ross Perot warned the American people about the huge sucking sound we would hear of jobs going to Mexico and few people would listen.
