I'm an old soul, just realizing the truth in this now. Never fit in as a kid. I had a sense of humor, music taste, and introspective nature that was older than my peers. Perfect example: I would sit and watch pbs, even the infomercials and world news, because I noticed things and made connections beyond my years. So at 8 years old we made pet rocks in school and I named mine Jim Lehrer, turned to my peer and said "Hi im Jim Lehrer, bringing you the latest world news from the middle east" and of course the kid had no idea what I was saying lol My grandmother was my best friend. Even now, I LOVE seniors, I feel like they are my "people". I would often sit and journal, observe my surroundings, constantly be collecting information and deep in thought. I read encyclopedias for fun as a kid... I always felt like I didn't belong. I really internalized it. Now I'm starting to love these traits that make me "weird".

It's not that I don't like people but I don't like social interaction filled with superficial conversations. I like helping people but I don't like to socialize. That's why I feel misunderstood by others. Also I don't like selfish and manipulative people. I think we old souls have no tolerance for young souls who are superficial, frantic and competitive.

All correct - except the part about people "flocking" to them for advice. Maybe a person or two - but not many, because most people are caught in the trivialities and superficialities of life. They don't much care for truth or knowledge. Old souls are outsiders and usually unpopular.

I find it when people ask for advice they then run away from you forever because they're so horrified that you know them so well they can't deal with it and will pretend it never happened. But then they're just weeding themselves out for me and I so appreciate it. The worst thing I can do is waste time on somebody who's not worth it

Growing up I always hang out with older people. I'm 29 now and they have since all passed on. It was great the knowledge and wisdom one Is able to take in but there is a sense of loneliness after the old folks you hang with pass on. I've got one friend I met in the 5th grade that is around the same age as me. Everyone else was old enough they could have been my grand parents. Miss the old timers all the time. Life hasnt been quite the same since they passed. Definitely tell it's a transition period I'm in.
