It is very stressful, very demanding, and underappreciated.
It's cute to change a baby diaper, not so much cleaning up after adult accidents.
Bless these workers, with appreciation and better pay!

They couldn't staff those positions before the pandemic. Quit paying people garbage wages, I worked for Addus a huge company, they recieved at time $65 an hour from Medicare and a recieved $10, with a
$.05 a year increase. My mental health and car were destroyed. When my clients died I wasn't even allowed to attend their funerals if the families had one. And don't even get me started on the families.

If they paid a decent salary there wouldn't be a crisis. One lady told me it was $8 a hour

Another headline that explains this is: " health care workers need more pay"

On top of that there’s no pension plans, 401k, the hours and pay are very unstable

I'm leaving because the pay is simply too low, the clients can be abusive, and it's too stressful. I just got hired at a factory for $23 an hour. So many jobs have raised there pay, even McDonald's pay more than homecare. As a homecare worker I was employee of the month 3 times and they refused to give me a raise. I'm done

Crap wages and they don't pay holiday or sick pay. When the pandemic hit many were out of work and it was too bad, so many moved on and found new jobs. Now these Home Health agencies are desperate. Cry me a river. Start paying people decent wages.

Lol.... my friends care giver shows up late sometimes not at all, doesn't get what's on the grocery list, buys what she wants to eat...basically steals food!
Care givers need to be certified and vetted.

“Needs more workers” accept our government wants to just throw money at the issue without a serious plan.

I've seen how the vast shortage of aides affects agencies' high turnover; hence, the client receives subpar care. Because of high turnover, some clients may not have a permanent aide. A sudden change in schedule leads to a stranger entering the home without any introduction. Another challenge that probably poses the most danger to the client and the aide—is the overworking of aides who must work 12-to 24-hour shifts without breaks or rest. There isn't a law in many states that prohibits this practice. Hence, we have a potential for various types of accidents.

Medicare does not pay for home health aides if a potential client initiates service after losing self-care abilities. This is not the case if a patient comes from the hospital and needs additional care beyond a hospital stay. For all others, I highly recommend those who can purchase long-term care (LTC) insurance to offset out-of-pocket costs. Most people cannot afford to pay privately for home health care.

In my country our free universal healthcare includes homecare. Never expect that from a banana republic like USA.

Well maybe you shouldn't have fired the same people who saved lives during the pandemic because they didn't want to follow your political narrative. I feel bad for those states.

Let's Go Brandon!
