Thank you for posting this hauntingly beautiful piece. Heartbreaking to think of the loss of the incredibly rich and soulful Yiddishkeit world in this part of Europe.

Marzena z Momtrealu

I remember when i was little and we went to see Grandparents. My Grandfather was listening to music. I was about 4 years old and said the music was sad.

Roman Vishniac took many of these photos did he not? Haunting...heartbreaking...So many pictured were murdered most likely. They are not forgotten. Thank you for this.

This is also a theme from Train de vie, a movie made by Radu Mihaileanu, a Romanian movie director.

I love the music here, sometimes very poignant. All this history, life and culture now but a memory.
So these people were different and kept mainly to themselves, had their own language, customs &
Religion but did they have to die because they were different. Pogroms were nothing new to them
in Eastern Europe but the Germans brought something unheard of. The mass slaughter of millions
of innocent, unarmed Jews. And the worse thing is .... they never really paid for their crimes. They
destroyed in a way that beggars belief and for a large part - got away with it.
