Welcome back to our Greek Street Food series! In this video, we are trying to find the best street foods in Athens. We are trying 3 of the most famous street foods in Greece: Souvlaki, Greek pie or Spanakopita (made with phyllo and spinach), and the traditional Greek dessert Loukoumades. We are trying these street foods at the most famous shops, comparing the food, price and entire experience. This is the ultimate STREET FOOD SHOWDOWN!!!

3 things I wanna point out:

1. Spanakopita's filling and flavor usually depend on the origin of the maker. Greece may be a generally small country, but its regions are vast and the traditions quite endless. I am greek and sometimes i am amazed as to how different each part of greek cuisine can be. In my house, my mother always makes her spanakopita with loads of greek feta, in other parts of Greece they don't use feta at all.

2. Gyros is a big thing in Greece, and it is almost always a hit or miss, especially in Athens. The old timely, traditional gyros is made with just a few ingredients and sometimes no sauce, whereas the new version has always tzatziki sauce, french fries, with sometimes adding ketchup, mustard, mayo or even spice in the mix

3. Loukoumades is even harder to explain. Each house, if traditionally makes this sweet, has its own way of serving it. I, for example, love it with honey and walnuts, but i enjoy the occasional white chocolate on top. It has endless possibilities and i am sure some people started making the savory version of this. You just can't go wrong with loukoumades hahahaha.

Personally, when it comes to greek pie, I prefer the "strifti" pita because the fyllo is so much tastier in my opinion. You can literally add any filling and it'll taste amazing because the fyllo is just so good! I could literally eat strifti tyropita everyday
