Clearly, much heartfelt feeling goes into this superb jazz vocal. Accented English adds subtlety and originality to what must be one of the most well known, most sung standards in all of music. Charming, halting sweetness. I love the ending yodeled notes too. And the way the piano accents them. The black understated simplicity of the vocalist's appearance amid the barest of settings — as if a warehouse — fits perfectly into the lyric of this exquisite 1938 Sammy Fain/Irving Kaval song.
