I think people today, ironically, are much more lonely than when this came out. We look at how others are happy and smiling on poisonous crap like Facebook with their friends and lovers and families, and it makes us feel more alone than ever. It kills you from the inside out.

Love the way it recalls Barber's "Adagio for Strings" around the 5.30 mark. Both songs are about the deep emotions that hide in the dark places waiting for the light to come in.

A complex, beautiful, timeless, and epic piece in its own right.

Ashcroft has never been better and that is saying a lot.

For me, this is a masterpiece, ranking with Goldie's Timeless and Massive Arrack's Unfinished Sympathy. It all builds up to what I call the 'train section' about 6 mins in then the glorious strings really kick in, and along with Richard Ashcroft's voice a well of emotion comes over time I listen to it. Is this really 26 years old?
