Join Dr. Brian Shamblin, assistant research scientist at the University of Georgia, to learn about the genetics research project focused on answering basic loggerhead sea turtle nesting questions, such as, how often does each turtle nest and how often does an individual return to her hatchling site to lay eggs? The GTM Research Reserve is collaborating with the University of Georgia on this research project. Dr. Shamblin has worked alongside GTM's Regional Administrator Scott Eastman and Coastal Training Program Coordinator Kaitlyn Dietz and is passionate about the importance of research monitoring. Through this collaboration with the University of Georgia, GTM can leverage its longstanding nesting project and volunteer program to gain a better understanding of sea turtle nesting populations.
