It's 2023 and this sound as great as I first heard it in 1980. The Jam back then. Had no idea that the lead singer would become Luther.

If you are a singer LISTEN to the sheer onslaught of talent and technique that Luther puts into this vocal. It's astonishing.

RIP you beautiful genius

Why isn't Luther Vandross in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame?

Not that he needs that honor to validate his talent, but with his contributions to music and his status as an R&B icon (I place him among the Motown and Stax greats) he more than deserves it.

Plus, calling it as it is, he was the last great TRUE R&B singer to come along.

Luther grew up in the same neighborhood as I did and his sisters sang at the church on Oliver Street (Mariner's Temple). NEVER FORGOTTEN!

Nothing reminds me more of watching my mother and friends dancing feverishly to this song in the living room under the red light. Everybody danced. Good memories from my childhood!

As a young sailor in 1982, at the Ingalls shipyards in Pascagoula, Ms., some of my shipmates and I caught the Luther Vandross concert in Mobile, Al.
It was a classic performance, absolutely fantastic...
RIP Mr. Vandross, thanks for singing to our hearts!!!

I love YouTube, NEVER knew this version even existed. The bells, blocks, Timbales and haunting bass line will heal a dying man. Put Luther's voice and the b.v.'s on top of it and you have a piece of Heaven on Earth.

Grow up on 70's and 80s music. They don't want that kinda soulful music being made today.
