Coast Guard Calls Off Search for Woman Who Fell Off Ship

The U.S. Coast Guard said on Twitter they “searched more than 31 hours for the woman” who reportedly fell off a Carnival Cruise Line ship. They are now “standing down pending additional information.” The Carnival Miracle left Southern California on Thursday heading toward Ensenada, Mexico. The unidentified woman reportedly fell from the balcony of her stateroom on Saturday. Carnival said in part in a statement, "Our thoughts are with the guest and her family, and our Care Team is providing support."

Interesting fact. During the Prohibition era in the 20’s, foreign registered ships would offer week long booze cruises to nowhere just outside of US territorial waters. They often had crew members who stood on deck all across the ship to prevent people from falling overboard.

Cruise ships should have their passengers wear a "safety bracelet" with a tracking device for safety reasons especially one like this. Staff and crew included.
Can probably help prevent other weird stuff from happening that happens on cruises also.

I live in a sky rise condo next to the beach and have a balcony and I have had parties and people act stupid and have almost fell over a handful of times to the point I don’t let anyone out there if they’ve been drinking. Gives me anxiety.

I was on the carnival victory in July of 2019, our last day on sea one of the crew members fell overboard and he was never found. Will definitely not be taking carnival again.

I think it would be smart to have a waterproof tracking bracelet where you put it on at the start of the cruise and return when the cruise end, just in case stuff like this happen. Just a thought.
