A friend of mine works in international development and you wouldn't believe the things that have been donated that can't be used . . .blood transfusion machines in hospitals that can't be used because they don't have clean needles and can't store blood, washing machines that are too complicated to use and can't be mended when they break down because the parts are not available. All sorts of things . . . but not the basics.
