i had a xu1 as a young fella my first car, i built a fresh engine and drag raced every car that pulled up along side me, only got beat by very powerful V8 muscle, it hauled ass engine was blue printed with massvie head rework and triple carbs, 40/80 solid cam
run 13.8 1/4 mile at wilo bank with 3.55 lock diff and slicks back it 1987,

Bought one of these new in 1971, LC 186, same colour "Linamint Green" for $3395.75, from Fair Deal car sales in Parramatta. Great car, sorry I sold it. Once chased a 327 Monaro up Mount Ousley, stayed with him, doing 90mph+ at the top. That was interesting but somewhat scarey.

Yeah lc two door s with 179 hp racked out to a 192 oversized flat tops wild cam that screemed all the way to 7000 insane high comp head l34 valves lots of port work getting her flowing, three speed with 355 factory lsd banjo (very rare)diff, a combo good for 120 mph+ very quickly

This car just recently sold and its not a genuine GTR XU-1. Its just a very well built and prepped LC torana.

I have owned 3 LC XU 1's the last I sold 3 years ago. Still don't know why I sold my last one...a moment of weekness I suspect.  What a beautiful car this one is, a credit to the owners

Love these old cars. It scares the hell out of me racing them without a cage on these Tasmanian roads tho' ! Any major impact over 80kmh is fatal in an early 1970's car.

I remember the 4 cyl version...what a shit car...then they fitted the old red and didn't that wake it up. Workmate had a worked 202 solid cam Torana in Frankston and it was just insane...in a nice trippy sort of way.
