LA CITTA’ PERDUTA
Paul Mazzolini surprised everyone by accepting at once to join the Banda. We had discussed the possibility at Venegoni's house: we were very intrigued by the idea and we thought he would do it, but still we considered it might have been tough. Instead he said "yes" without arguing, in the name of an old friendship and respect for all of us.
We sent him two songs to listen to, so he could choose the one he felt most comfortable with, “In viaggio” and “La Città perduta””.
He sang them both! A giant! Thanks!
At the time of compiling the Banda's disc, we only used one, “in Viaggio”.
It was a difficult choice, since both version were excellent to the point that we could not keep the other one hidden. And here it is. An extraordinary interpretation, in two versions: the first, a little more rock; the second, without drums to sound a little more carpeted.
The Ep "En Voyage" - which you can find below and which you can buy and give as a gift, to listen to it better and to give us all the opportunity to delight you again - contains something new and something old.
“La Città perduta” is an important moment in our history. The hero we have put in the spotlight, Giovanni Battista Belzoni, seeks the strength to cover the lost city of Berenice and then to find the entrance, the true access, to the pyramid of Kefren. Between 1818 and 189 he did succeed in both enterprises, amazing the world, he, a giant who came from the theatre and had not studied. He won where t scholars and doctors had failed.
It was the desire to discover that inspiredhim. But, above all, it was the desire to know the true nature of things. The Truth, in spite of any fatigue and many enemies. Not at all willing to surrender. Or giving up his dream.
