The separation was pretty peaceful, to this day the Slovaks and Czechs remain as "brothers" (apart from World Hockey Championship of course :D) We can understand each other languages and thus we share our rap/hiphop scene. (maybe Slovaks understand Czech little better but the languages are quite similiar in many ways) Big up though for taking an interest in this topic :)

The separation was technically illegal because in our Constitution was a point about separation and only one way to separate was referendum. In my opinion way more people didn´t agree with separation, but you know how politics works, they don´t ask what people want.

You should watch YouTuber from Slovakia his name is PPPeter, he speaks english in videos, he made a lot about czech also as Slovakia, big thumbs up from me that you are interested more deeply than just music in our countries 👑

If you want to know more about our countries, you might consider watching "Geography Now" channel's videos with these countries, but these videos are pretty long (they are 20 min.+ each), so idk, there are a few tiny mistakes or things that got lost in the translation, but whatever. I saw a few people pitching videos from "PPPeter", but personally I think that his videos are kinda outdated/stereotypical (not everytime true "jokes", which aren't even funny) and mainly lame. Honestly, if you really want to do your research about Slovakia and Czechia, you can watch videos with theme you'd enjoy (we don't know if you'd like/enjoy nature or you'd prefer industry, history, etc.).
