BlisterPod ULTRA Blister Kit - What's In It & How To Use It?
Показать описание
This is the BlisterPod ULTRA Blister Kit.
Hi, I’m Rebecca Rushton from Blister Prevention and today I’m going to show you why I think this is the best blister kit on the planet. Let me show you what’s inside this kit and how to use all of the components, and you can make your own judgement. I’ll walk you through a blister treatment scenario and address each of the products in order of use.
0:00 - OUTER CASING
✅ Made of a durable material that’s light and compressible. That’s important to minimise weight and bulk. It will expand out if you want to put extra stuff in there, so that’s not a problem. We’ve also got double zips and compartments to keep everything orderly.
0:56 - BLISTER LANCING IMPLEMENTS
✅ In the form of hypodermic needles and scalpel blades. I prefer the scalpels – they deliver a good-sized hole in your blister roof to allow good drainage that’s less likely to seal up too quickly. Or you can use the needles which is what most people are used to.
2:01 - POVIDONE IODINE WIPES
✅ This is what you wipe over your blister to ensure it doesn’t get infected. Kill any bacteria in and around your blister because the very last thing you need is an infected foot.
2:19 - GLOVES / COTTON PRODUCTS
✅ There’s a pair of gloves in the kit if you need them, plus cotton wool balls and cotton wool buds to wipe any dirt away from the area, soak up blister fluids and the like.
2:29 - ISLAND & HYDROCOLLOID DRESSINGS
✅ Then you’ll need to put a dressing on it. If it’s a blister with his roof intact, or torn, you’d use one of the 24 island dressings. The island dressings come in three shapes and sizes so you’re covered for any blister location. Or, if your blister is deroofed, you can use the hydrocolloid blister plasters. Hydrocolloids provide the perfect healing environment for raw, lightly weepy skin to heal and are an essential inclusion in any good blister kit for this reason.
3:23 - FIXATION TAPE
✅ Make sure you anchor the edges of all of these dressings down with the white fixation tape provided, to ensure they stay put in the very hot and humid in-shoe environment – it’s a very challenging environment for adhesive products but this fixation tape is totally up to this task.
3:53 - FELT & PORON
✅ There’s adhesive orthopaedic felt for you to make your own donut pads or even toe-props. And there’s a big piece of Poron which you can do the same with, or use it to simply cushion and absorb shear from your blister, or blister prone area. It’s at least 10 times better than moleskin at doing this.
4:18 - GEL TOE PROTECTORS
✅ These are just THE BEST material for shear absorption to prevent blisters. There are two sleeves and one cap and trust me when I tell you, these will be a life-saver at some stage. I carry a couple of these in my bag wherever I go just in case my little toe starts to rub.
4:40 - ENGO BLISTER PATCHES / BLISTERSHIELD POWDER
✅ Pop one of the ENGO Patches on the corresponding area of your shoe to provide a nice frictionless area that saves the skin of your blister from shearing, helping it heal, even though you’re still walking or running on it. Alternatively, use the powder. Both of these materials are made from a material called PTFE which is an unbelievably low-friction material. The powder is water-repelling so it’s a good choice if you’ve got river crossings or your shoes are soaked through.
5:30 - ADHESIVE ENHANCER WIPES
✅You’ll want to use this on your skin before you apply anything adhesive like tape or dressings, when your skin is wet to help everything stick down and hold even though your skin, shoes and socks are still wet.
5:47 - BLISTER TREATMENT FLOWCHART
✅ This is one of the most important features. It gives advice on how each product works. And on the other side, the flowchart walks you step-by-step through everything you need to do, to help you give your blister the best treatment possible. Because not all blisters are created equal – the right treatment depends on the blister roof. That’s massively important in treating blisters and something most people have no idea about. You’ll find this really helpful, for sure.
I don’t know about you, but I don’t know of another blister kit that covers blister treatment and prevention as comprehensively. So if you’ve got a big walk, hike, trek, or multiday ultramarathon planned, this is the blister kit I recommend you buy to give you every possible blister management capability to keep you on your feet and moving forward in a minimum of discomfort whilst allowing your blisters to start healing – or better still, prevent them in the first place.
