Magic in Slow-Motion 🤯

Показать описание
It’s time to put my sleight of hand to the ultimate slow-mo test. I’ve filmed a series of magic tricks in front of my slow motion camera capturing footage at 360 frames per second (that’s 12 times slower than real-time).
Will the tricks work under such scrutiny?
Will I be exposed in slow motion?
Will I finally feel some form of validation?
Some of these questions will be answered.

Full vid on my channel.

The die and cup bring to mind an interview with P&T where Penn related how they were chilling in a diner after a show and Teller was messing around doing cups & balls with drinking glasses and wadded up paper towels. He had the genius realization that the misdirection was so powerful it could be performed with clear glasses and the spectators would still be fooled - and the birth of their famous version of the cups and balls

Double-sided tape is probably the most common answer to "how did you do that magic trick?"

I feel like with the internet we know so much more about magic but it doesn't stop our enjoyment from watching a magician. Instead of purely believing in magic, viewers have evolved to just really appreciate how well a magician sold the act.

My guess: The dice is dropped behind the table. For the dice I believe it is stuck at the top of the cup when it smacks the cup on the table it's dice falls. I do believe this only works on camera as there is no sound.

The dice one is great, he French drops the dice, then drops it off the table. The other dice is released by slamming down the cup.

(I think) 2nd one: cover card is magnetically locked to the decks box that's behind everything, with a little shake and decks weight brings down the front "card" with it.
(I think) A dice was stuck to the bottom of the cup, slam/tap on the table and it comes off, the other is slid off the table on to the floor

There are four dice in the cup… Two of them have weak Magnets.
The Cup has a weak magnet in its base
The first Throw produces The two unmagnetised dice
When the Cup is struck on the table, the two magnetised dice fall out Because the magnetic force is weak.

The last one is literally sleight-of-hand trick and if you've ever done the penny trick you can do that one too. It's literally the very first magic trick my grandfather ever taught me

dice in the cup is keeping the dice in his original hand and using a modified cup to put the dice in from the back. Hard trick to mask you pushing motion to get the dice into the cup, though, BEAUTIFUL!!!

l am absolutely gobsmacked by the appearing deck trick. damn!

LATER EDIT:
There could also be two dice, one being stuck in the cup, the dice wouldn't necessarily have to make sound. l can't help but notice that he put th e cup dow quite firmly, possibly shaking a dice loose from the inside top of the cup. The only problem l have with this is that the dice is perfectly centered. Aside from that it's just disappearing the other dice, which is easy.

The only thing l can say about the appearing deck trick is that there may be expanding material INSIDE the cardbox, but that is highly unlikely, because you would also need to have an expanding box

Potential spoiler?

My theory for the cup:

magnet on the thumb. As soon as his thumb pops away he never shows the cup. So the dice detatches from the wall. Dice disappearing was slight of hand or misdirection. 2 dice one cup.

Affixed to the inside of the cup. That's why he bangs it on the table; to dislodge the second die. I had this trick in a kid's magic set when I was little. I think it was the Blackstone set. Not sure, though. I had a few different ones growing up and I was never super organized so all my toys usually ended up in whatever box.

For the cards, you can see that the "folded card" part is all shiny and that each of the other decks have a shadow printed on it so it looks like they are 3 dimensional, when he's moving it away after the deck drops, you can see that the crease is also offset more than the others between the decks so it can hold the full deck in place, 99.9% sure that its held on with magnets so the little flick at the end disengages the hold. You can also see that the real deck does not have the same shine to it as the rest of them when he first displays them all before the shake, it would look better if when he had the "folded card" printed with less of a varnish, or no varnish on the decks so that it will look closer to what the actual card box looks like

Same goes for the dice trick with magnets, you can see him palm the die rather than put it into his left hand, then his right hand goes to the edge of the table where he drops it, fairly standard trick, but in the cup there is the other die which has to have a small magnet in it and a magnet in the cup, you can see when he puts the cup down that its a little extra forceful so that dislodges the die so you see it when he picks up the cup.

Last one is: double sided tape in cup, 2 dice. 1st dice He feigns passing to the left hand than drops under table with right clear. 2nd he smashes the cup with more force, you can see it wobble after with a delay. Nice magic!

the die and cup is simple sleight of hand. it's the same trick as the sharpie but in reverse. basically, the die was never in the cup to begin with, it was in the hand that picked up the cup, and the flourish when he opened his fingers was when he placed it on the table at the same time he picked up the cup.

The bicycle cards were probably done using a magnetic printout of the front of the card pack with magnets in the pack behind the accordion fold.

The die and cup trick goes like this, when he "transfers" the die to his left hand he actually keeps it in his right hand, very carefully places it directly behind the cup then lifts up the cup

My thought's on the cup: The second die is attached to the "floor" of the cup. The first time he cups the cup down, it's a gentle placement. The second time, he moves the cup up and down quickly, hitting the table sharply. That hit is to disguise the die falling and hitting the table. Could be secured with a weak adhesive or weak magnet, and the hit to the table is enough to dislodge it from it's fixation (and in person, could be enough to muffle the sound, especially with that table cloth). Of course, the first die is just SoH'ed away and dropped behind the table.

I may be wrong but there are two die in the cup initially. One is adhered to the bottom of the cup which is why the cup is smacked against the table to free it after the first dice is rolled out with a simple cup tilt.

The awkward moment when I realised the guy performing the tricks in the video is also the one watching it😅
