I could not refrain from commenting about the American education. Beware that it is not an issue of getting into a "good " university. There are such parameters set that the competition is skewed and it is making those institutions drop their standards. I was faculty for 20 years and I saw it happening. Right now, I can tell you that I know of a case of someone being a provost at a University because of her skin color. A person with no publications, no doctorate degree, nothing of substance in academic terms being provost indicates how the system is broken. You can get degrees that will serve you nothing. Think of a doctorate in political science with a dissertation engaging in the degree of perception of "blackness" or "whiteness" of the student body of an institution. What are you going to offer to someone who wants to hire you if that is what you studied? I am not talking about getting a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Stanford. That will have a lot to offer. The other aspect of this argument, is that once you have students admitted with lower standards, sitting in a class with those who aced their exams, marginalizes those who were favored because of their "minority" status. They just cannot perform and the start accusing the system and their professors. They end up dropping out of the program and carrying a heavy student debt, blaming the University and the society. The government imposes to schools to apply double standards and we have these issues.

Το σχόλιο για τα αμερικανικά πανεπιστήμια είναι άστοχο τελείως. Δεν χρειάζεται να πας σε Ivy league πανεπιστήμια για να διαπρέψεις. Υπάρχουν ένα σωρό καλά state university και κολέγια για να μάθεις χρήσιμα πράγματα και να δουλέψεις. Αλλά δυστυχώς αυτά είναι ψιλά γράμματα για όσους ζουν στην Ελλάδα.
