How to Insert a Checkbox in Google Docs

To insert a checkbox/tickbox symbol in Google Docs, select 'Insert' then select 'Special Characters', then search for 'check' in the search box. Then select from the selection of checkboxes which the search produces. You can also make a bulleted list with checks. Select the list and choose the checkbox bullet format. Then right click on the checkboxes in the list and select the tick to check the boxes.

It should be noted that in order for the "bullet" checkbox to work independently (so that all your bullets don't convert to a check when you select one), you have to add the checkbox bullet one at a time for each list item. It won't work if you copy one you've already added to each of your list items.
