The ability to create a custom team absolutely needs to be made offline.

I don't like the business model Nintendo has adopted with the Mario sports spinoffs, where they release the game with a limited amount on content and then fill it in later with "free updates", but I did enjoy the core gameplay of the demo a lot, as well as the animations and the music so I'm getting it.

I don't doubt that the core gameplay is great, but what I'm not seeing is substantial single player content. Like Mario Tennis and Golf even had story modes, but this doesn't? It doesn't even have to be a grand story. Just an arcade style mode where you fight through a tournament and each character has their own mini story like in a fighting game would be nice.

Compared to Strikers Charged from more than a decade ago

- Less characters
- Less animations
- ONE map
- No single player campaign

$60? What a joke

The Strikers Club mode NEEDS to be available offline as well as online, and shouldn't be restricted to online only. Also there needs to be some sort of Season mode available offline or some sort of Adventure Mode available offline as well, like every other Mario sports game of late. Apart from that though, this game looks awesome.

I loved Tennis Aces, did not enjoy golf that much but this is the most anticipated Nintendo title for me in a long time and to hear that it delivers from a source I trust - makes me so excited to play this game

06:22 I see the Luigi's Hyper strike more referencing the vaccum cleaner from Luigi's mansion than his appearance in Smash

To me, at least during the demo, I found the game to be fun, but I’m not sure I’d spend 60 bucks for it.

Maybe I’ll just wait for a sale.

A lot of this review makes it feel, similar to Splatoon, the main focus of that game was it's online, with the online going off for it, does it make that game any good?
What I liked about the last Mario football game it had a amazing number of football fields and brought back in the previous fields.
Had some decent single player content as well.
Had Characters which got unlocked as well. Diddy Kong, Bowser Jr and Petey Piranha.

Man I miss the season mode you kinda got in gamecube. You got to play a regular season then after that you got playoffs. I liked the records in the season you got like "oh I'm 7-3" and it felt very fun. I hope it comes back

This game is harder to track where you are than even smash. I found the demo rough.

I'm personally "mixed" on this game because of how *shallow* the current base game is. In fact, the "2 stadiums combining" feature had A LOT of potential had they introduced *unique stage hazards for each half* and therefore giving a *strategic purpose* to selecting a certain stage half by each player (and not only just for "aesthetics"). Also, the excessive focus on "online mode" is a turn-off for *offline players* like myself (would've liked a *story mode, * even if it was a short one). All in all, I had high hopes that this game would compare more favorably to the AMAZING *Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions (PS4), * but sadly, it lacks so much stuff that I'd rather stick to the latter soccer game instead for now.

I’d say it’s difficult to master considering you have many options to shoot, pass, hit, and dodge but it also includes timing as well.

This Mario sport game (developed by Next Level Games) on the Switch has the most potential to be the best. But they somehow reduced the roster of players to play; we gotta wait for new characters through the “free dlc later on.” Watch it be characters that were already in previous games.

I just wish they has more to it, look at strikers on the wii. It was a great game, lots of items and stages with their each unique gimmick which made every stadium worth playing. The roster wasn't too big but you had your own assist characters like hammer bro, monty mole, birdo, koopa troopa. Sure in that one the options and modes weren't too many but the tournament mode definitely made up for it. I just wish these sports games had unlockables and a reason to play solo mode. I hate Nintendo's plan of releasing an unfinished game and then adding updates every so often, it just makes me bored of the game at first and then I just don't want to replay it and everytime an update comes I just go, "hm, okay I guess". Sorry about the rant but I believe this game couldn't had so much more potential (the animations are great though).

Also just a side note, I dunno how true this is but it looks like Boom Boom as keeper is actually WORSE then Kritter, the AI just seems to miss a lot of shots that in previous games would've usually been saved.

After playing the demo which was pretty rough imo, I can't see myself paying $60 for this. Maybe later down the road once the game is actually complete and goes on sale.

The demo really discouraged me in buying. It was really difficult to keep track of who i was controlling, and the controls were hard to remember for me. I might consider buying though once the annoyingly slow drip feed of additional content is over.

Perhaps I'm a bit of a niché market when it comes to these Multiplayer focused Sports games as I like to play them Single player; but I can't help but wish the Single player Cup mode included a group stage before the knockout round.
That might sway me towards getting the game.
Perhaps if there were 16 characters initially rather than 10, there could be a Cup mode with 4 groups of 4 teams each, and the top 2 teams in each group progress to a quarter-final stage; this I feel would bring something to the single player Cup mode that I personally find a bit lacking.

Maybe later down the line, something like this might be added...

For people who focus more on the Multiplayer mode, however, perhaps this game would be a good purchase; since it looks like it is designed with that in mind.

Lack of solo content is a big disappointment. I don't enjoy playing PvP and I'll be skipping it.

"Master Class in competitive game design". HELL YEAH
Besides the 2vs2 bad choice, that demo really showed how great this game is! I'm so happy that this turned out great!
