Session state :
It is server side session management system. As session is maintained in server it is secured. The session is maintained per client based system. Session is accessible through out the website. Usually username is stored in session. within some particular time session will expire.

View state:
It is client side session management system. The value is stored in hidden field at client side. It is accessible within single page itself. If we redirect to second page automatically it will expire.
