Much appreciated - I have scraps of paper with how-to notes but in most cases I cannot now remember any of the whys - That just became important as I work for a charity supporting disabled people with IT and I am making up some bootable Mint/Xfce USB sticks for people in the US (I am in the UK) so I need to be sure I get it all right before shipping them. Thanks for taking the time and care to make such informative vids.
Timeshift is a welcome addition!

A number of years in and never knew about ext4 setting aside that 5% of space. Thanks for pointing that out Joe, still learning each and every day.

Easy follow good descriptions. Not too technical for us beginners. Thank you.

Joe....It dawned on me that you're like a slightly more mature " Dave Ramsey" of the Linux world. Well done man Cheers!!

Hi Joe, I've been following you since years now. I'm so glad to listen that you sound soooo much happy and relax on your latest videos, I believe that having Cindy with better health and at home made that happen.

I loved your interview with Lunduke yesterday, it was awesome seeing you guys treat deep topics with so much joy and fun.

I have a question regarding Linux Mint 18.3, I don't see on your list of configuration the swapiness.

I remember changing swapiness from 60 to 10 with a single command line on the terminal for 18.2, is that not necessary anymore for 18.3?

Greetings from Chiapas, Mexico.

I intend to try Mint Cinnamon when the next version (19) comes out, so thank you, great information :)

Just in case you had not noticed, when you "thought" you applied a 5 sec delay to Terminal, it applied to Cinnamon Settings as it was Highlighted when you clicked Edit. Always enjoy these lessons.

Great video for the beginner. The only suggestion I would make is that everyone should have a hardware firewall. Most people I assume (maybe incorrectly) have a router between their computer(s) and the broadband connection into the home or business. Every user should have a router with a hardware firewall, even if they only have one computer. A simple 4 port wired router will have a firewall.

Tnx for this video, Joe. It's very helpful.
I have one question, does Firewall slows down PC in any aspect. Thanks again.
Cheers

should i build a pc to run linux or buy a desktop from system76? what are the pros and cons of each? im always build pc's to run solely windows or bought pc with windows preinstalled but am looking into switching to either mint mate/manjaro kde or ubuntu instead of windows.

I used VM Guest CD and all windows borders disappeared after reboot, so I am wondering how to install drivers on VM properly. But it was KDE actually, does it really matter which desktop has been chosen? Now I am downloading 18.3 with Cinnamon Desktop and I will try to install drivers from Guest Virtual Box CD again.

The 'route' command shows you the router address (gateway)
