As Indonesian myself, I hope our country could become a regional player rather than superpower.

Okay, so you won the Internet for today with that thumbnail. Legends.

Also, one thing you didn't mention is the Straits of Malacca: Indonesia is one of the three countries with territorial waters in the Straits. Thus, it has considerable influence over one of the world's busiest shipping lanes and arguably its most important trade chokepoint.

I think the factor limiting Indonesian power is their geography, despite having a strategic shipping location, their fractionalised archipelago does them little favours for stability and integration. Natural disasters and climate change also pose a large threat.

As a Singaporean, I am surprised you have so quickly dismissed Indonesia's cultural influence. It has hundreds of years of rich history and many historical sites and many tourists from the region visit the islands every year.

Nah, as an Indonesian, I really want indonesia to just be a middle power with middling levels of prosperity industrialization and life expectancy that just spends its time... middling along.

So we are still somewhat far off, but last thing Indonesia needs is to be a superpower with all the responsibilities and entanglements that entails.

Living in Indonesia is Far Better than Live in the US now i think. Of course Indonesia have Low Wage but The living cost in here for Middle class people is just about 300Usd per month, low tax, cheap Fresh Food, Cheap gas, Cheap healthcare, cheap Education cost, i finish my college just for like 18k Usd. But in Major Provinces like Jakarta, Jawa Barat, Sumatera Utara, Sumatera Selatan and Bali. Housing is start become a problem, property kinda expensive Right now. But rent is still cheap and Its so safe to live in Indonesia, Its not absolute safe like Qatar or UAE but for High population Country Indonesia is So safe, i never see a big Robery or people shooting each other in this country, only like pic pocket guy or motorcycle theft but Its kinda rare.

Indonesia will become a super power country is still debatable but i'm 1000% sure in the future indonesia will become one of the most enjoyable country to living.

As an Indonesian, I believe that it's not impossible for Indonesia to become a superpower, but it's unlikely that Indonesia will want to be one, Indonesians are generally chill and doesn't like to make enemies, we even declare our country as a nuclear free zone and that still doesn't change even with Australia bringing in nuclear powered subs right on our doorstep.

However Indonesia imo, still is and most likely will continue to be a key player in the whole indo-pacific region. It's crucial for any superpowers like the US, Russia, China or India to maintain good relationships with Indonesia if they don't want to risk losing their influence in the Indo-Pacific, and luckily our ideology is democratic enough for the west yet still strict enough for the east, so really imo it won't be too hard for any country to maintain good relationship with Indonesia, except for maybe Israel

The most surprising thing from this video for me was the fact that Mongolia is the third largest producer of green commodities. I know my country's pretty big on mining but I didn't realise it was that big in that sector.

At the moment, WTO has ruled that Indonesia has violated WTO rules regarding nickel export ban. Regardless of who's right or wrong, it's clear that the established powers aren't going to just let Indonesia to have total economic sovereignty. They want cheap raw materials, and Indonesia is denying them that, trying to gain better economic position.

As an Indonesian myself, I'm having high hopes in the future of my country. With the green technology trending in the world, digital economy, and growing young population, I really hope we can capitalize on that.

Being a citizen of this country, the only thing I hope is that this country will never fall into identity politics based on race/ethnicity/religion. That is enough for me. I'm very very concerned with how the political discourse has changed since the ousting of Governor Ahok in 2017 and the rise of Islamism. Indonesia's democracy is still very young, most of the population has yet to have high level of education and literacy and most just barely escaped poverty. I hope for future elections to elect leaders that uphold the nation founding ideology of Pancasila (unity in diversity), to promote plurality and religious freedom and a clear separation between religion and government. That is enough for me. I really really hope for the better.

Regional yes, almost certainly.
Global, unlikely, but not out of the picture.

One of your best thumbnails!

Also, Indonesia is constantly at a crossroads. Its huge ethnic and cultural diversity can threaten the unity of such large State. Whatever happens, let’s hope it will be the best for the peoples.

I think the word superpower get significantly overused. Major power would be a better term. Proper superpowers are rare in history, and if there's anymore than 3, they're major powers.

great vid!, it's interesting when you mention about indonesia's nickel resource, when currently indonesia's is fighting for the export rights at the WTO, and yes indonesia recently loses and now we're forced to export raw resource to developed countries, it's really unfair and i hope you can make videos about that
