35 MINUTE 10K - Gloucester 10k RACE VLOG 2021 In The NIKE ZoomX VAPORFLY NEXT%2 - welcome back to another video and today I share my 35 minute 10k race at the Gloucester 10k race 2021. Sadly the day didnt quite go to plan but I am very grateful for the opportunity to be able to race again so it was nice to get out there and run a familiar course and see some friendly faces!

Did you race this weekend? How did you get on?

Totally get how you’re feeling- although it’s not even on the same planet as you pace-wise, I ran my first 10km race back in may after starting properly running back in lockdown 1- definitely felt I was ready to go sub 60 mins (see told you not the same planet 😂) but missed out by a minute and 4 secs. Was gutted and beating myself up, as I’d prepared well for it and felt I was in good shape. Fast forward to tonight- despite being knackered from work and a busy weekend, I strapped on the shoes, ran a 59.31 with very little prep… sometimes running is unpredictable, and the course has a huge impact on pace and finishing time. All I’ll say is you’re a HUGE inspiration and I’m nicking your workouts all the time (that 2 mins/30 secs/50m is getting stolen soon!) so just keep pushing on and doing what you do, and I’m sure you’ll smash the HM! 💪🏻

Don’t be too hard on yourself. Take the positives and onto the next one. Have a good week.🤗

okay, i will be brutally honest with
1 you ran a great race
2. you are on the border to abusing your body
3. give Lee a rucksack with some 20 kg and he won`t be faster than you
4. Running is not about numbers, it is about feeling
5. If you would not have seen any numbers, you would have been real happy about the race
6. Running is like the waves in the ocean, a constant change of up and down, and there is no one dimensional relation between training and racing results
7. At the level you are running, the air gets very thin, and every little thing in life influences the result of a race big time
8.My running strong and in control is 90 seconds per kilometer slower than it used to be...and there is nothing i can do about. I only got the choice to stop running or continue to run, love what i do and embrace the present time
happy, stay healthy, keep reaching for the stars, but stay with your feet on the don`t define us as runners, numbers are just numbers, our running defines us as runners, and without a watch, you would not know the difference between fast, faster, very fast, blazing fast, you would only feel the wind around your face, feel strong and gotta run number 2 waiting before the rain...so i gotta be on my way

Congrats on getting your best time in that day! Variables are always in play: course, weather, feeling into the race, training, sleep, nutrition, etc. We all learn from each one and try to apply to the next one ⭐️👊👏

Love your honesty, no point in covering up your disappointment, we all know that feeling

You have a young family. That takes more energy than you know. Great race!

That was actually a really great race, not every race will result in a PB. We don’t get faster forever. It was a great effort and smart race, like you said, and that’s what matters most. You’re still crushing it, Andy!

Andy, you did a 👏. I know you don’t like excuses and you threw the heat and humidity out and yes that is a factor. You’ve also have to consider that life and what we have going on does play a part in how we perform. You accomplished some things in this race that you set out to so there is a good take away. Keep your head up and ball rolling. I would give anything to peek at 35 mins for a 10K. You continue to inspire! 💪💪💪💪

Hey Andy, congratulations mate. You did it. Period. A race is still a race and you either get a PB or experience. We are happy with your times, bring on the next one. Best Luck!

Great race video to watch Andy! It is frustrating, although I believe this lull is still moving you to a soon to be PB!

Brilliant video - we love seeing the rough as well as the good. You don't need my advice, but for what it's worth, I'd focus on the execution of your race, which is sounds like you nailed. The times will come if you continue to execute. Also, that 35.30 is the reality of your fitness at the moment. I'd suggest adjusting pace in your sessions accordingly ... perhaps those 2min efforts at 5.20s are catching up with you? Run them at 5.40s, feel better and stack the sessions week after week. You're in great shape, Andy - keep trucking along!

You're being too harsh on yourself. This is a prep race, you're training for a 21km not for a 10km. And a 35 min 10k is good no matter what. :)

Can't all be great races but not a bad result! You'll be even hungrier next time. 'Lee done amazing-lee' aha

Andy I think if I were in your position I would review your pre race preparation. Especially as your training has gone so well this year. Discuss with your coach and look at your good races and try and remember if you did something slightly differently those times. Keep going though you will get there.

Hi Andy, like it how Thomas Fritz exactly expressed below :)....Thank you Thomas, like your points and thoughts. Also think it was a great race and you did a great time. We're runners, all of us love running and that's the most important. Understand we want and need to improve, but that's like trend, one race is just one race like one point on that trendline. And I'm sure you're getting better, climbing up your trend :) My Congrats Andy!!!

You said it yourself, you'll have good races and you'll have not so good races. Good to try and understand why it wasn't as good as hoped, but don't get bogged down and let it distract you from the fact that you are in good shape. Just my tuppence worth; last few weeks you've mentioned a bit of fatigue, additional stresses in life outside of running, football match last week. All of these add up. Most importantly remember this wasn't your A race. 👍

Good race Andy. Not good to hear you disappointed. Sounds like you’ve got to the classic plateau in performance that often comes when you’ve made huge strides over the course of a few seasons or training cycles. Probably lots of suggestions as to why / how to fix it. Not sure how helpful these are but could be: don’t think you had a real break after the marathon, could just be the body saying ‘hang on a minute pal!’; after a hard training block like you did for the marathon there can be a psychological drop off that you might not even have noticed eg you start to lose a tiny bit of motivation without really noticing; maybe time to change something eg more gym strength work or more mileage (maybe even more easy mileage and less sessions if time is tight) to build endurance.
For context, I’ve had to start doing daily yoga and also gym work now one or twice a week as I had a similar thing and just couldn’t improve any more without breaking down all the time. I already feel more motivated doing something slightly different to what I always did before.
Well done again!
