2009 E-class W212 - design team talks about design

Among all the generations of Mercedes E-class in the body of w212 was, perhaps, the most controversial design (the confirmation of facelifting in 2012, when the design was significantly changed). Nevertheless, it is interesting to listen to the team of designers who worked on this machine.

This was a bold design when it came out, it has stood the test of time and still looks modern and contemporary 13 years later.
Probable going to be a future classic because of this.

I own an estate version of the e 350 and it’s design is just magical, I never stop looking at the car when I leave it parked up, I just cannot resist that urge to glance back at it, yes, it’s one of best looking Mercedes I’ve ever owned !

I live in the USA. I own a 2011 E 350 and I like this design so much that I'm looking to buy a E 63 from 2010 to 2013 but this design only, yes I'm not selling my 2011 E 350, my is Artic white and the interior is almond, this car still turn heads, people ask me what year is this car, still looks brand new, thank you Mercedes for creating my dream car. I'm hoping they will bring something like this in the future, because the new design to me are uglier than my E 350.

This is a design that keeps revealing more, if you do buy one you will notice that. Constantly amazed and the design and quality of this model, I have the 2012 E350 CGI, and it's fantastic. I am more impressed now after driving and experiencing it than I ever thought. It's not perfect sure and nothing is but it's a lot of car for the money today. Still holds up in style and technology, the command system is still ok, nav works great, stereo fantastic.
Materials last and it's tight no rattles.
Suspect it will cost to service but for the joy, I feel it will be worth that extra cost.

this is the only Mercedes where the pre-facelift version looks much better than the later facelift model

There was nothing controversial about the car, it's my favorite e class in my.opinion the best looking E class to this day, the newest one is controversial if anything, its ugly and looks identical to a C class

Great video, thanks designers, you did a wonderful job of designing our E250 estate. We had the previous versions and really liked them and at first I was a bit nervous about the angular design of the 212, but soon changed my mind and there’s no doubt now that it’s better for me.

I recently asked a Mercedes Benz service advisor, what is the best Benz in terms of reliability. No question, he stated, "W212 e class built between 2012-2016."

As an owner of the W212 Facelift I can say it’s the most beautiful car in the price range. It’s has design elements that makes the design timeless. These are also not available for about $25000 on the preowned market with represents awesome value.

this e class is one off the merc's last masterpiece because recent models just seem much much much uglier than the olds. facelift w204 and facelift w221, prefacelift W166 and X166 facelift X204 and W463 are the last of coolest mercedes cars. there will be no more new generations cooler than them. I really hate newest design idiom of mercedes-benz

Very interesting to see the designers and hear them speak about their intentions. I’m sure other car companies have similar employees. Some companies don’t appear to have a plan before they finish (Some Honda Civic dashboards and Ford Focus). And then there are cars like the Triumph TR7 😧
