Police provide updates on the shooting at an Allen outlet mall

Officials said there are at least nine victims following a shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets Saturday afternoon. The gunman has also been confirmed dead.

Allen Police Chief Brian Harvey said at 3:36 p.m. May 6, an officer was on an unrelated call at the outlet mall when he heard gunshots. When he followed the gunshots, Chief Harvey said the officer "saw" then "neutralized" the suspect before calling for ambulances.

Chief Harvey said multiple agencies helped evacuate the open-air mall and have been helping work the scene.

The Allen Fire Department reported they transported nine victims to nearby trauma facilities, but that there could be more victims who were taken by private vehicles.

We retired 2 months ago and are traveling, currently in Nicaragua. It is tragic when events like this happen. It does make us roll our eyes when people ask if Nicaragua is dangerous, when something like this seems to be happening weekly in the US.

That officer is definitely a hero!! He saved a lot of lives!! My husband is a retired deputy sheriff and has had to do that several times even after he was shot on 2 different occasions and stabbed several times!! He has been shot in torso two different times but thankfully he survived! All of the officers put their life on the line every day for us! I can't imagine not having them!

Heartful Prayers to the families of the victims. This is the first time I ever hear that something happens and there was already a police officer there at the time. The good guy with the gun isolated the bad one with a gun. My sincerely thanks to the police officer on site and his quick response.

So sickening/scary, how that pos demonically gunned down that poor family walking (the mom with the toddler and the dad not far behind carrying the baby), god is it so, so heartbreaking to see. Please help us god 😢 My heart and prayers go out to all affected by this evil tragedy.
I’m in Fort Worth, TX, so close to Allen and I have family in Allen. After this occurred today, I saw similar news that some maniac went viral on Snapchat and was arrested because he was threatening to shoot at innocent people in downtown Fort Worth tomorrow on Sunday.
