the rider supplied the power to get the bike to move like every other bike unless motor assisted.
the rider doesnt pedal the flywheel although it is added weight carryin it around. (is this your point).
the kinetic energy (momentum) of the bike is transferred to the flywheel via clutch to make the bike slow down acting as a brake. this causes the flywheel to spin(not rider). this can be then sent back to bike to aid take off..
