I bought a jgmaker magic after alot of research and mine was just about perfect out of the box. No major problems At all. Was my first experience with 3d printing and am very happy with it. And the customer service is awesome. Any questions I had they jumped right on answers. I either got lucky, or was the research I did prior but I am happy with my unit..oh and mine is quieter than a house hold box fan

Hey there, Bryan! I am so happy that you had made this video before I got into 3d printing! I bought a JG Maker Magic when they were on sale with a buy a new one, get a refurbished one, free! I am happy with mine so far. As a starter printer, I think it is just fine! I had 3d printed almost non-stop for christmas 2021 from Nov. 3oth to December 24th. No problems.

The JG Magic was my first printer, I bought it in October 2019. I threw it together because I didn't know any better and never got a print off of it. I bought a Ender 5 Pro and been printing ever since. I think it might be time to dust that JG off and reassemble it just to see if I can get a print from it. Thanks Bryan for this video, now I have something more to "tinker" with.

I just received my JGMAKER Magic during their $169 sale. The only surprise was the extra $6.60 PayPal fee ( only option) and it came via Amazon! Prime member here. Heated bed is the new version. Bed leads are soldered on WITH strain relief. Z axis rollers now have eccentric adjusters. Big cooling openings on hot end. Strain relief on hot end wiring. The X axis assemby was already assembled. It's my 4th printer, 2 of which are FolgerTech kits. This is a great little printer for newcomers since the only thing they have to do is set the zero z switch

Hi Bryan, I followed this your video for unboxing, building and doing the first print (from the SD card) on my JGMaker Magic 3D printer, completely ignoring the PDF manual. I would like to say a big THANK YOU because your explanations are well detailed, and understandable for noobs in the 3d printing like me (this is my first ever 3d printer), You took me step by step, and it is almost impossible to make mistakes under your guidance. A big kudos! Maybe you should work for doing video tutorials for JGMaker ! :)

My first print had no under extrude problems, but the test PLA (in my case it was white) broke a couple of times (even while printing the rafting, so the printer was interrupted as the sensor detected the broken filament). Nevertheless there is no visible hints that there was a stop needed to replace the broken filament.

And in my opinion, the noise is definitely audible, but bearable (I would not sleep in the printer same room, but I have had some PCs that were definitely louder than this printer).
Nevertheless, I would like to replace the fans. Any suggestion? I have read that Noctua are good, but which one?

I've had one of these since July of 2019. I think the under extrusion problem you ran into is atypical. It's not a problem I've run into. It gets used a lot. It has worked well. You need to check the bolts for tightness on the wheels from time to time. One day I'll use some lock tight to end that once and for all. Once the bed material wore out, I purchased a PEI magnetic plate which works really nice. I ended up replacing the extruder drive feeder with an aluminum version designed for the CR-10 several months ago when play developed in the stock plastic one. When you get the chance, update the firmware with the one provided Da Hai Zhu. It enables a good number of very useful features in the firmware, especially for bed leveling improvements. Lately, I've hooked it up to OctoPI what has really made printing more convenient. The base and bed are very stable. Overall, it's a well-designed printer. Especially at the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking to purchase a 3d printer for the 1st time. For my 1st printer, this has been great.

I snagged a used one for 60$. Your video helped in seeing a few missing screws. Will be testing tonight if I have replacements

Hi Brian,
I very much enjoy your channel and the way you explain things. Instead of TRAMMING it should be PARALLELING. Coming from a building back ground that is what you are actually doing . You make the nozzle parallel to the print bed at all given points. But we all know what they mean. Great show keep it up, you help very much with our 3d printing over here in AUSTRALIA. Wow congrats on winning a printer. Too bad it has its issues but hopefully your precise and in-depth review will help them to improve for next round!!! Magic!

I would love to know what they were thinking when the decision to omit the bottom panel was made.
The under $200 printer market is extremely competitive and to get anywhere in that market you have to score a home run, taking the Ender 3 as a benchmark this printer fell short although hopefully, it is a one-off or the first upgrade is to cut the side panel off an old PC case to make a bottom panel.

Hi Bryan, I just received one of these for review and it took a few tries to get setup. Mine had a misaligned gantry...the X motor bracket to the 2020 extrusion was very obviously off. The first time I let the gantry sit on the bed, there was a good inch or two difference from side to side. Thankfully there are holes in the bracket to access the two screws. I had t-handle allen wrenches and boy, did I need those to loosen them. Upon leveling the bed, its still not quite perfect, you almost run out of bed spin/knob turns to level it. I watched your video previously and knew to have a carpenter's triangle handly to assemble it! My first print is similar to yours and the stock Cura Profile for the Magic looked a bit better. Next up is checking the esteps and doing some extrusion multiplier checks. I'm still testing and hope you don't mind me referring to your video and channel for such great content!

Did you solve the under extrusion problem on this printer? I have the same issue, it happens on a layer around 10mm from bottom.

I wish 3d printer manufacturers actually read these comments. Talk about free R&D suggestions. First I would eliminate the SD card and main display. Include a board that either allows for pc hookup via usb or bluetooth. Utilize the consumers own available pc for the control panel and source for print files. Much easier for firmware updates too.

Did you ever solve the under-extrusion issue, Bryan?

When it goes to auto home, it doesn't bring it to the left front corner. It brings it to the back left.. once I started leveling the corners, it went forward, thinking it was the back or something, then it started getting all shaky, had to power it down. Trying to figure out if they did it backwards while building this one or I'm missing a setting
