200 year old Engineering Drawings of Dublin Port unveiled & preserved

The Archive Team at Dublin Port have discovered a large collection of 4,400 Engineering Drawings some dating back to the 1700’s.
Special conservation methods were applied to preserve the collection and prepare them for cataloguing and scanning by Archives Ireland. Collections of this age can be subject to many damaging factors like dust, physical abrasion, graphite, ink dissolution or migration.
To ensure the proper conservation of the collection, acid free folders were specially hand-made and preservation treatments like surface cleaning were applied.
