Singapore cycling is big, HUGE. And many people are riding expensive bikes such as S-Works, Pinarellos, other high end bikes! Some even have a $30,000 bike that does not look like it at all!

Just how bling, personalised and fascinating are the bikes that Singaporeans have?

Cycling is not about upgrades, or Pinarello. Cycling is about sportsmanship, passion, and leisure. Upgrades are about marketing, sales, and gadgets. The best cyclist in the World started with absolutely nothing, just cheap bike often no brand by today's standarts.

Rice, sugar + water = watts!

Climb with open mouth because 3kg of oxygen burns 1kg of fat.

Truly the adage 'all the gear, but no idea' has never been more apt.

I am moving to Singapore in a few months. I can’t wait to mix it up with you guys. Looking forward to getting out on the roads although I don’t care much about the fashion show.

As I'm sitting in cold, soggy Bristol in winter in England that was lovely and inspiring to watch...CHEERS MATE!!

I love cycling in Singapore! The roads are safe and smooth, there's an eclectic mix of people enjoying the sport, there are plenty of good cafes for coffee breaks and there are some terrific bunch rides.

You don't need to spend a fortune to enjoy the sport, but if you can afford it, why not!

It is sad to note that Singaporean cyclists on the whole are very brand conscious, way more that other countries where cycling as a sport is even more established. Unfortunately, the dearth of routes where people can cycle on the island means everyone is gathered around a few spots and this draws out all the poseurs. True, there are poseurs everywhere in the world but other countries offer a greater variety of routes and options so the cycling scene is more diverse and healthy.

Try Negros Island in the Philippines for bling bikes. The routes are awesome as well.

Crazy to see how fast the cycling community has grown. I was cycling here in 2015 for the first time, and didn't see many cyclists at all.

BTW, Marco Cycles or anyone, can tell me if it is safe to park say a $3.5-5k tops Giant TCR/Propel/Defy (probably will keep it bone stock, dont have much disposable $ to spend) just outside the HDB flat along the corridor 2m away from the front door? Properly locked for both front wheels + frame. I just might install a CCTV + LAN cable + conduit as well for additional visual deterrence, neighbours no issue atm. Or is it just better to get a Java Air Fuoco with 105 R7120 for around 2k and be done with know some would say it's a s*** bike but i gotta be practical as well, due to constraints.

Not sure if loitering around and make so much sounds outside people’s residences on a weekend morning at 7am is a good idea.

Thinking of moving to Singapore, ...I can't afford fancy bikes, ....thankfully I have a couple of road bikes that are decent enough. Do you have any 'sportive' type of events?

loving those roads. It's like riding in a rainforrest in Australia. How far out of town is this?
