How does the slit in bottom of door play into anything?

We have bypass barn doors and need to install a guide to the wall. Any suggestions? Can't seem to find anything on line.

Mine goes in between the door on the bottom. Not on the two sides. I’m not understanding it.

Do you have to install floor roller guides. Our door is in an entrance where the floor drops about 3 inches and the door is about 2 inches off the floor. Is there an alternate solution for this situation?

Can this be the same for tile floors? My handy man is telling me after sending him this video that I will have to cut a groove in the tile because this one is on carpet. He also wants to use three roller guides for a small bathroom door which seems excessive and I think will look ugly. Appreciate your help.
