I'm currently doing an internship at Finnish Aviation Museum. We have one of these in our yeard. MiG-21 was the first fighter here to go double the speed of sound. Also the first plane in Finnish service to be armed with missiles.

I agree about the look, that simple green camo pattern they had for many years is just perfect. I also loved it during WWII where it was accented with the yellow highlights on the wingtips, engine cowlings, tail, etc.

Only thing I’m upset with about this aircraft is the lack of S-24s for CAS since Sweden has very few options. But still is a very solid fighter

Fun fact. Bis or бис stands for "Боевого ИСпытания" or "battle tested". The soviets awaited to see the battle performance of planes before *trying* to improve the aircraft and iron out it's problems.

Ah yes, I sure love facing against the MiG-21MLD. (I know its a mistake but I would like to laugh about it)
I grinded out the 21bis recently (God bless premiums and premium time), and for the first MiG-21 I got my hands on (since i dont play Germany, Russia, or China) and for me, im still learning the ropes with it because its super different (imo) to everything else I fly, but all in all, im enjoying the 21bis in the Finnish subtree

I'm sorry, but the mig 21 bis is in such a tough spot after the apex update. it sits at 11.0, which means you see constant up tiers (at least 50% of the time) if you get up tiered, you get shit on. if you get down-tiered, you can own the battlefield. its so infuriating as a 2nd gen jet to fight 4TH GEN JETS. I feel so out of place. Even at 11.0, you cant outturn a f4e phantom- as a delta so what do you gain from being a delta wing? as far as im aware nothing because the delta doesnt provide enough lift to combat the weight of this thing. its so damn heavy. unnecessarily heavy. and the radar is so bad. the missiles are okay but the radar (in comparison to 3rd gen and 4th gen radar) is so bad it can hold a lock while you perform evasive maneuvers. i would gladly trade in the r60mk's for plain r60s if it got lowered to 10.7, it cannot compete in the current iteration of war thunder. and it annoys me that i spent today grinding with it. the j7e would wreck this thing, the j35d would wreck this thing. the f5e would wreck this thing. it cannot compete. i cannot believe that i am playing a game where a 2ND GEN JET is fighting mig 29's. and f16's

Guess i have to buy the J-7D if I want a HUD so much in a Mig-21 (and I do) and only that and is "bother" J-7E has a HUD in the cockpit. Unless the game ever gets the upgraded ones too (LanceR or the 2000).

Does it include the Vympel K-13? Finland received the MiG-21F-13 in 1963 and got into operation next year. MiG-21F-13 And Bis variation made to go up with Mach 2.05, complete the mission and land. It was superior against others in speed, but was inferior in weapon tech for the other fighters. The best tactic is just engage enemies from the back with full speed and fire missiles. After that disengage.
