The Sims Medieval soundtrack composed by John Debney.

John C. Debney (born August 18, 1956) is an American film composer. He received an Academy Award nomination for his score for Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ. He also composed the score for Cutthroat Island, which has been celebrated by music critics as a notable example of swashbuckling film music.

Many songs are composed of 3 or 4 pieces and have the same title.

Which is also very short, I decided to group them under a single video at once.


All the songs are amazing, perfect for the game.

The melody is identical to Ja Nous Hons Pris, an actual song from the times of Richard I.

First I heard it in the game I found it strange that I knew this melody from somewhere. One of my favourite "medieval-bands" - Corvus Corax - revived this piece several years ago. Lyrics? Here we go:

Ja nus hons pris ne dira sa raison adroitement,

Which is middle-french (in case you haven't noticed ^^) and means:

I think I am considered a Peteran cause they're all about compassion while Jacobians have a strict moral code and are about fearing the Watcher [us]. That is no way to lead your congregation. Forgiveness and Compassion is the way to go =D
Oh and the music is MUCH more pleasant and beautiful. I actually fell asleep to it while playing the game! XDD

well, this isn't an original score by Debney, this is a medieval song "Ja nuns hons pris" written between 1192-1194 AD by Richard I "Cœur de Lion" of England while he was held as a hostage by Leopold V, duke of Austria.

@Kordian459 Exactly. I just discovered that and wanted to know if other people were aware of it. Another music from the soundtrack, "The Dashing Young Falconer", is veeery similar to a medieval estampie by an anonymous composer. I just find it a bit sad that because composers like Richard the Lion Heart have been dead for a long time, they are not given proper credit.
