I am sure that these fascinating facts about Kedarnath Temple will amaze you. Kedarnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is believed to be over 1,200 years old and is regarded as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. Instead of Hi and Hello, The people of Kedarnath will always greet you with Jai kedar or Jai Shri Kedar and
The Mantras chanted in Kedarnath Temple are in the Kannada language. The temple's main priest, known as Raval, always belongs to the Veerashaiva society from Karnataka. Geologists claim that Kedarnath Temple was buried under snow for nearly 400 years, from around 1300 to 1900 AD.
There is a belief that the head of the Shiva idol resides in the Doleshwar Mahadev Temple located in Bhaktapur, Nepal.
The name "Kedarnath" means "the Lord of the Field," derived from the Sanskrit words kedara and natha.
During the devastating floods in Uttarakhand in 2013, while the entire town of Kedarnath was severely affected, the temple remained relatively unharmed. A massive rock called Bhim Shila fell behind the temple, which diverted the colossal floodwater away from the shrine. The temple itself is structurally strong, with thick rock walls and a roof made of a single stone. it was originally built by the Pandava brothers and later reconstructed by Adi Guru Shankaracharya 1,400 years ago.
When the Kedarnath Temple closes for six months during winter, the deity's idol is brought to the Omkareshwar Temple in Ukhimath, where it is worshipped. During this time, Lord Bhairavnath protects the Kedarnath shrine by keeping away from any evil forces.
The Kedarnath Temple houses idols of Goddess Parvati, Lord Krishna, the five Pandavas, their wife Draupadi, Nandikeshwara, Veerabhadra, and other gods and goddesses.
A pilgrimage to Kedarnath and offering prayers at the temple is believed to facilitate salvation and liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
These facts not only showcase the incredible history and significance of Kedarnath Temple but also emphasise its resilience and spiritual impact.

Actually 4 out of 5 panch Kedar have RAVAL from South, either from karnataka or tamil nadu . I belong to Uttarakhand and can tell you that our way of worshipping gods, and local deities is similar as the way of South. Because of Adi Shankracharya
