5.2Ghz i7-8086k Easy Overclocking w/ Maximus X Hero

Показать описание
Another attempt to overclock the i7-8086k to 5.2Ghz with just an AIO. The attempt was successful but wouldn't recommend as temps were reaching 90°c. Still enjoyed doing the video though but I believe the CPU's potential just isn't worth the extra money to be spent on. That being said, thanks for watching and please subscribe to my channel!

With prelim settings, I got my delided 8086k to 5.2 stable on 1.375v @ 75-77c and Vengeance LPX 3200MHz OC to 3333MHZ (under full load and stress tests).
Couldn't get the 4000Mhz on the RAM but happy with the CPU clock and temps as it stands..
So, now to try turning down the voltage in .001 increments to see how low I could get it maintaining the stability.

System:
Asus WS Z390 Pro
i7-8086k (delided)
32GBVengeance LPX 3200MHz (2 x 16GB sticks)
EVGA 800watt PSU (80+Gold)
Arctic Freezer II 240 AIO
(note: the Arctic Freezer II Water Block bracket needs some minor mods to fit this motherboard.
Stock, it presses up against the MoBd's heatsink (the one Marked "Workstation" between the CPU socket and the 1st PCIE slot).
I trimmed 3mm from the side of the bracket closest to the heatsink and slotted the 2 holes where the bracket mounts to the WB itself by 3mm as well.
So now it has about 1.5mm of clearance and it still fully covers the IHS.

Thanks for the video.
Honestly, if I have this CPU, I'd settle with 5Ghz no avx and call it a day (and would hope for a sub 1.3v voltage).
Thanks again

5.2GHz with AVX offsets 3 = 4.9GHz, i don't consider that 5.2GHz

Thanks for all the views and likes guys! Just like everyone else watching I’m here to constantly learn. Appreciate it everyone!

So basically a 4.9GHz OC since most stuff uses AVX.
Great fucking overclock !

I have an 8086k @ 5.1ghz and it only scores a 1225cb on multi core. I have a Strix Z370 board with 32gb ram @ 3300mhz and 2080ti.

8700k with delid using 360 AIO, 5.3 GHz with a AVX offset ( 2 ) at 1.42 Vcore /// 5.2 GHz with a AVX offset ( 1 ) at 1.35 Vcore /// 5.0 GHz with a AVX offset ( 0 ) at 1.23 Vcore /// at 5.3GHz was able to get 1720 in cinebench /// but i get 1655 cinebench with 5.0 GHz so don't look like it's worth running it that hard i think ill stick with 5.0 GHz with a AVX offset ( 0 ) at 1.23 Vcore, never gets over 60c under full load .

i did everything exactly same as u did. but when benchmarking my temps go above 95°. any help to bring it down?

Custom water loop and delid with 1, 5 or 1.6 volts with temps running under 80 c would be nice. But mind more cores = more temp. So why they just dont make 4 core 8 threads big balls chip instead ?

Can u give a quick explanation of when u changed the dram to 3733mhz thx

HA!
My normal 8700k still outperforms this.
1735 Cb at 5.2Ghz. (1.4v mind you, not the best chip in the world)

i was going to buy one 8086ktoday but the guy sent me a screenshot of cinebench r15 where was 8086k @5ghz doing "only" 1619 which was the moment when i said fuck it as one of my 8700k does 1601 @ 4.8ghz...no point...
