Oops, I Accidentally Bought Another Damn Motorcycle - 1999 Sportster Too Sweet To Pass Up

When we saw the listing for this 99 883C Sportster on Marketplace, it was half price and sitting up on a trailer looking like a typical blown up old Harley, and we figured reviving it on the cheap would make for some great content.
Boy were we wrong!
Now the only question is, what do we do with it.

As a fellow sportster owner, I approve of this Lol. In my opinion the 883 is the most iconic looking Harley there is.

The Sportster best Harley out there. I loved my old used 2006 1200. Fist year of ownership rode 8000 plus miles out west and out south east. Awesome bike on the Trail of the Dragon 🐉.

Cannot go wrong with a EVO Sportster, Being a mechanic I think they are the best Harley engine ever made period and I have owned everything from a panhead on. If you like a true Harley sound and feel buy one it is all you will ever need.

Glad you brought the seat up I wasn't going to. That is a seat only a mother could love.

I have two and feel the same way. Put a 1200 kit in it. That would be fun to watch and good interesting bike content. Take care T

A sportster is the only Harley that’s ever tempted me. Two of my neighbors have giant baggers that seldom go beyond the city limits. Crazy.

In my opinion, they were the best Harley's > myself and buds had several variations when we were just out of high school. But growing up 6'2 215lbs I got too big for them. Really liked the high bars, metal flake '72 editions. And nothing is beating a 1200 Sporty off the line....they will pass them 300ft later but being that light with that amount of torque, hole shots were a blast.

Great buy love sportys! Get some heel stirrups for the fwd controls. Huge improvement, badlander seat will make it look much better. Or big bore hammer kit, be a nice little drag bike

I bought a Sportster XL1200 Custom new....ordered it in myself in fact. Still have it, although I mostly ride dual-sport (BMW F800GS) as the asphalt is a little crazy these days. I've noticed a real change in driver behaviour and aggressiveness during and after the pandemic. My Sportster is also pristine....I'm not getting rid of it because there's no way the market would give me what it is worth to me.

Nice little sporty !
I laughed, every peice you said you took off, and every one you said you were going to get rid of was exactly what I would have done.

I rode back and fourth from Jackson tn to Union city a 2006 883L in pearl white the last year for carburetors I loved that bike and the only reason I sold it was I was getting deeper into my Alcoholism and was afraid I was going to get into accident. Now that I live in Jackson and don’t have the drive and am in recovery for the problem I would love to have another carbureted sportster

I am not a Harley man....but if I had some extra cash, I would SO throw a few grand your way for it! This would be a perfect daily bike with little effort! That is an awesome find sir!

Just cuz they're not worn doesn't mean they're new. Check the date code on those tires Uncle Tony.

I know you said you weren't going to hot rod it but that may be a good series. Check out Hammer Performance you might be tempted. Just a thought.

As a 1988 Springer owner, I highly approve of this. Nice find!

I've been riding my 06 1200c for 15 years now. Took me a summer of riding to get used to those forward controls. Had to put taller handle bars on after I shattered my left elbow and lost my reach. My last Sportster was a 1981. Both are awesome. You'll need that return cable when it's hot outside. Otherwise it'll idle hi and low and never set at a constant idle. VOE
