Toothpaste + Resin + Glow Powder = Squirrel Totem? Another Inscryption Prop!

preview_player

We just had to 3D print our own animal totem from the video game Inscryption! There's a hollow cavity inside for electronics and we used clear resin so the glow shines through the eyes and symbol. Also, we modified a squirrel card to match the theme...

Tune in for the painting …but STAY for the water boarding of a squirrel! Love the project, amazing game. The 3D print looks incredible.

Love this project and the fact that the original artist made the models available. Your squirrel bottle project inspired me to make a miniature resin version for a keychain. (Currently working on a Goobert version now). Keep the great vids coming, guys!

I thought the totem was made out of wood since you get them from the Wood Carver lol. You can even see her carving away another totem in the second chapter

mixing some red glow powder with the uv resin then filling in the belly and coating the eyes with it could give a really cool after glow effect

You guys are always an inspiration! For other 3d models from game devs, there are some models from Deep Rock Galactic. They aren't released directly from Ghost Ship Games, but the person who put them up did get permission and got the files directly from the game, so they're accurate. Ghost Ship Games will also be releasing simplified models for 3d printing as part of their kickstarter campaign for their board game later this year, so super excited about that.

Bill, you really inspired me years ago. I started with foam, Sintra, and now 3d prints. I started with a ender pro and now have a giant anycubic chiron. I have printed many movie space ships and worked my way up to helmets. Thank you for the comments you gave me years ago when I was working on my first prop. So glad to watch all your videos!!! Hope one day to show you my work! This hobby has changed my life.

Amazing build! I’ve found that blue poster tac also works for masking indented areas. It’s dry and sturdy but peels off really nicely!

Oh my goodness, I love this little guy and his little hands. The paintjob looks so much like stone, and the glowing eyes are so cool

Great job! I also really appreciate that you put some time in for the end of the video to show off the finished work in more detail. So many people just show how they make something and then only show the finished piece for a second and you don't really get to fully enjoy the results. So thank you for that!

I just got a job with my school's engineering lab/maker's space and now all your videos are making me see the tools we've got in a whole new light! Thank you!! Never would have thought to use the laser engraver as a stamp maker!

Super awesome. the totem looks great. the uv addition to the card is a nice sneaky upgrade.

for resin threads you want at least .5 mm clearance. you CAN sand the screw until it threads but it is much easier to reprint.

Inscryption is a maker's paradise, in my opinion. So many cool props, like the scale, the masks, and all the various tools and weapons. Good work B&B on the totem.

Love you guys so much, thanks for sharing your tips and tricks! I've learned SO much from you guys, thank you dearly. LOL I *LOVE* when Britt's having fun with something, she's really into this game's aesthetic you guys are so cute! *shakes her head and laughs* The stencil'd version on the card ended up looking GREAT, and thank you for showing us your experiments and letting us know what works and what didn't. Just can't thank you guys enough, much love and best wishes to you both always :) <3 <3

I really learned the lesson to always reverse my stamps when I finished hand carving my touchmark in a block of steel and went to test it for the first time... The totem came out really great, as always, thanks for the inspiration.

As always, love watching the two of you make things.

A trick I picked up from another YouTubers painting vids for quick and easy, unusual shape masking, was Silly Putty. It's moldable and durable, but certainly more resilient than toothpaste, and pulls off much easier. Even a bit reusable.
