<abbr> is generally equivalent for <acronym>

I personally really liked the <blink> and the <marquee> tags

<marquee> tag was part of my childhood.
Sad it doesn't work anymore.

Marquee is the first tag that got me interested in HTML. 😢

I mean, <acronym> was replaced by <abbr>, and the other two are trivial with some basic JS, and using a JS implementation allows for WAY more customization.

Back in my college, I used to play with marquee tag,

Miss that Lil guy

Marquee and blink make sense - reserve those for CSS and possibly JS of necessary. But acronym does feel quite natural in terms of structure of a page. I'm sure it was just replaced by something else.

These tags are really good and save some css and js code. It’s seems like as if the web is devolving. The web is supposed to be getting more advanced, like being able to support the use of all tags. I know some will phase out eventually but it still seems early for that

You can use the "title" attribute to show the acronym as a tooltip when user hover to the text in HTML.

Some of those tags were really useful and could be used in unconventional ways. Sad

The trend towards javascript heavy web apps has only hurt people like me with slow computers and slow internet. Especially when they aren't done well either.

The acronym tag was added in HTML5. And it's still supported by all major browsers

NOT MARQUEE :( SHIT WAS MY CHILDHOOD

Also I remember doing <p align="center"> which apparently no longer works. On one side it's sad but on the other side it actually forced me to learn CSS and I love it.

I remember when the marquee tag died people just switched to doing it with java applets and javascript.

I remember when I made my first website using HTML with all the mentioned tag in my computer class. My teacher lost her mind in high school. She showed it to the whole class. 😆

Devolving. Websites looked so much nicer 10 years ago. Now everything is flat and boring and a huge pain in the ass to use. Take YouTube for example. Imo the best layout was the one that they had from 2012/13 to 2018/19. Now YouTube is “Google-fied” and it takes a longer time to load. All of this is to make mobile browsing better, but most people just use the app anyway.

"Evolving" also includes the loss of attributes or properties
