I just wanna note that I’m liking comments on both sides of the don’t argument because I see both opinions. I think we can all agree just D O N ‘ T

It’s not just the “don’t”, it’s grabbing the hand before looking up. It’s just so cool, especially in comparison to how goofy he was most of the time.

It’s not that it’s “spicy”, it’s just plain cool. A disconnect from the dopey Mark. We get dead serious young Mark, and it’s just fucking fantastic. S-tier acting throughout that whole scene

i love amyy i was so stoked to see her and her slightly backing up everyone who simped for the "dont" is funny
Mark doing the "dont" so many times was cracking me up when i watched it live

Look Mark, it's not weird. Him of all people should understand, it's about power!

see its the assertion, the tone, the eye contact, the grip on "your" wrist, and the proximity to how close he is to "you", all of that is what comes together to make the clip what it is and i fucking love it

Its because Mark just gave us the 'Man made by a woman' POV that we needed

"It's not a sexual thing. It's about... power."
Coming Spring 2023: Fifty Shades of Markiplier

He's proven in a single word that there would be an audience for it, and while it doesn't do anything for me personally, I'd watch it.

In my defense, I really liked those lines of "hi, captain" and "don't" because it was just a different side of Head Engineer Mark that we never saw him doing in any of the situations that we were together. Just the deepness and tone shift of his voice is unsettling but cool at the same time. I didn't like it because of any other reason other than that, it was just it's so cool.

Firm and strong, but non aggressive. He is simultaneously showing strength and gentleness, albeit in a place where the context of the story *should* make you feel differently about it, that being a situation in which that violence is justified because he's recklessly messing with the time space continuum, classic super villain stuff (and no, just because he has a good motivation doesn't mean he's not acting like a villain, that just makes him a well written villain; The highway to hell is paved with good intentions). It's because he's firmly de-escalating a violent situation with a single word.

From what I've gathered, there's two ways to take this scene.

The first is you see this as a moment of superb acting on Mark's part. He's been the comic relief the entire journey, and here at the end he presents himself as someone to be taken seriously.

The second is "ooooh Daddy Mark, talk don't to me".

Both sides recognize this as an absolute fantastic scene. That's the power of Markiplier.

the funniest part is, I just KNOW mark went into this thinking Pizza Delivery Mark and Construction Worker Mark were gonna break the internet---and

It’s the assertiveness and the voice in combination with direct contact for those that are wondering. Like, we’re used to seeing the pOwEr from Mark, but not when he’s directly interacting with “us.”

"A little spicy, I don't know.." That sums it up in a nutshell.

There are 2 kinds of people:
"Oh wow that's a huge 180 from Mark's normal goofy self to an assertive man, really cool scene!"
"Okay daddy 😉."

Not Mark saying “Don’t” multiple times on livestream after the disapproval 💀

I get it. Up to this point Mark’s character had been dopey and goofy and incompetent and naive and innocent, but all at once this scene throws you for a loop.
MARK BUILT the warp core by hand.
MARK was trapped here for countless years building it.
MARK stopped trusting you, you who were his dear friend.
MARK greets you with a dead serious, casual, competent tone, knocking you out, taking your crystal, and grabbing your wrist to prevent you getting it back. “Don’t.” It’s a complete 180 degree change for the character and the first time we see him in a completely serious played-straight tone (while still young). For the first time, our dopey Mark knows EXACTLY what he’s doing and how to do it. He understands your crystal, the multiverse, everything. For the first time in the entire story, Mark is a completely REAL character.
It sparks so much excitement that gosh darn it, it carries a side effect of him being simpable.

EDIT: And to Mark wondering why it didn’t have the same effect on Mack?
IT ABSOLUTELY DID!! It was just compounded on Mark by us knowing him as a character already.

Glad they acknowledged this during the stream because I was just as confused as Mark with the reaction to that line and subsequent tweet.
